Bipolar Disorder, also known as manic depression, is a chronically recurring condition characterised by mood swings ranging from the highs of mania to the lows of depression. These mood changes are often accompanied by severe fluctuations in energy levels. The disorder most commonly begins in young adulthood but can also occur in children and adolescents.
These are not typical ups and downs; the symptoms of Bipolar Disorder are significantly more severe than normal mood changes. They can lead to damaged relationships, poor job or school performance, and the development or worsening of other psychological issues.
Our Sydney psychologists are highly experienced in treating patients suffering from this disorder.
